What We Do
Our Approach to Good Design is What We Believe and How We Work
- Context – So much of good architecture is in the context. A riverfront bluff, ocean dune or a historic neighborhood. With design, the solution for each context will be different as it should be. We want to design buildings that are true to their context. We want to be consistent, compatible and, most importantly, identifiable to the context. It is the “sense of place” and the creating of that objective that we subscribe to and strive to accomplish with every project.
- Good Design is Better Than Good Materials – We prefer to have both, but many people miss the boat on this issue. How many times have you seen expensive projects that are out of scale, proportion or have technical problems? Most good builders will build a plan as designed if there is enough detail to give them direction, but no amount of money or effort is going to improve a poor design. Good design results in better homes, better neighborhoods and better lives.
- Creative Problem-Solving – Every unique problem deserves a unique solution. We listen to our clients needs, investigate the existing conditions and make recommendations that solve multiple problems. Our experience and breath of knowledge helps us use creative problem-solving skills to create a unified vision for each project within the stylistic concepts determined by the owner and interior designer.
- Continuing Education – We strike a balance between established practices and emerging building science systems. We are dedicated to continuing education as a means to provide the highest quality service to our clients, our families and our communities.
Design Philosophy
We believe our designs should be seamless in quality from the inside to the outside. Every piece should dovetail together utilizing the highest quality materials with highly refined details to insure long-term durability. We like to bring order, a sense of style and a touch of formality to our informal lives.
Environmental Response
We listen to our clients, how they live and the lifestyles they lead. We then make recommendations grounded in reality on how to maintain their level of comfort, while being in sync with nature to the greatest extent possible.
